PORT Adelaide has signed new deals with three out-of-contract players.

Dual best and fairest winner Kane Cornes has re-signed with the club, as have young forward Cameron Hitchcock and hard-nut Tom Logan.

PTV: Power Trio Re-signs

Cornes, 27, chalked up his 200th game for the Power earlier in the season and is once again set to complete an entire season without missing a game. Sunday’s game against Richmond will be Kane’s 171st game in succession.

Power football operations manager Peter Rohde says the club is delighted to have re-signed the star midfielder.

“Kane’s consistency and durability has been outstanding for many years and he continues to play a very important role in our midfield,” Rohde said.

“He has the unique ability to play on some of the best midfielders in the competition while at the same time winning plenty of his own football. Kane certainly remains an integral part of our side moving forward.”

Cornes says he’s thrilled to continue his career at Alberton.

“To have the opportunity to finish at the club I started at is something that I’m proud of and something I always wanted to achieve,” Cornes said.

“Whilst our win-loss record hasn’t gone according to plan this year, we have an exciting young list that I’m certain will develop very quickly. I’m extremely pleased to be continuing my career at Port Adelaide and I want to be part of this club as we move forward.”

Logan, 25, has played 68 games for Port Adelaide since being recruited to the Power from Brisbane via the 2006 AFL Rookie Draft.

Rohde says that Logan is a highly respected team player who is greatly valued at the Power.

“Tom has great respect amongst our playing group,” said Rohde.

“He’s very popular within the club and I’m sure our supporters appreciate the way he goes about his football. Tom continues to work hard on his game and his courage and passion for our club cannot be questioned.”

Logan says that he’s thoroughly enjoyed his previous years at the Power and is looking forward to continue playing his role in the side.

“I love playing here at Port Adelaide,” Logan said.

“I’ve really enjoyed my last five years here at the club and I can’t wait to play my part in our exciting young team.”

Hitchcock, 20, was promoted from the rookie list at the start of the year and debuted in Round 1 against North Melbourne. He has played 17 games as a small forward so far this season, kicking 20 goals.

Rohde says that Hitchcock has developed extremely well this season, given that this time last year he was playing reserves for Glenelg in the SANFL.

“Cameron has done an outstanding job in making the transition from SANFL reserves to AFL football,” Rohde said.

“He still has a fair bit of work to do on his body but we’re confident that he’ll continue to develop into an exciting, long term small forward for our club.”

Under the AFL rules, Hitchcock automatically reverts to the rookie list on Monday, but Rohde says there’s little doubt the club will upgrade him to the senior list by late October.

Hitchcock says that his first year at the Power was very enjoyable and he’s looking to continue to develop his game.

“I’ve forged a great bond with all the players here at the club and have really enjoyed my first year,” said Hitchcock.

“I thank the club for the opportunity to play at this level and I hope to repay their faith in me.”
