THE four standalone clubs running out for their first hitouts of the Smithy’s VFL season have gone down different paths for their practice matches on Saturday.

Coburg and Northern Bullants have named virtually their entire squads for their clash at RMIT Bundoora, with the Lions putting up 47 players and the Bullants 43, while Williamstown has selected 29 players to face Port Melbourne’s 28 at Deakin University in Geelong.

All will unveil several recruits for their supporters to have a look at.

Key recruits to front for the Lions will be ex-Bullant Liam Podhajski, former Gold Coast Sun Will Bella and fellow recruits from other VFL clubs in Jackson Bowne, Max Simpson, Aaron Gundry, Max Kennedy and Braden Andrews.

The Ants will reveal former St Kilda-listed player Josiah Kyle and SANFL recruits Patrick Fairlie and Tom Stapleton, with Saad El-Hawli, Will Sexton, Cam Wild, Billy Barnes and Perry Lewis-Smith having crossed from other VFL clubs.

The Seagulls have former AFL players Oscar McDonald, Marty Hore, Mitch Cox, Harry Jones and Mat Walker all playing their first games for the club.

They will be joined by VFL signings Corey Ellison, Jack Lipscombe and Nathan Colenso, WAFL recruit Jack Cooley and returning duo Nick Ebinger and Josh Pickess, plus best-and-fairest-winning ruckman Tom Downie.

Borough recruits named play include ex-AFL men Dylan Clarke, Fraser Rosman, Tom Hird and Joel Wilkinson and VFL signings Josh Green, Aiden Fyfe, Charlie Bowes, Cody Henness, Harry Stubbings and Bryce Milford, while their own best-and-fairest in Harvey Hooper is also slated to play.

Entry to both matches is free and open to the public.
