There will not be much surprise with the announcement, but Frank Costa will continue as the Cats president in 2010.
Under the club’s constitution the president must be elected by the board each year. The club’s board has resolved that Costa will continue in the role for a 12th consecutive year. Costa assumed the presidency in 1999 and has been unopposed in the role ever since.
Since Costa has been president the Cats have recorded 10 consecutive profits, won two AFL premierships and seen Skilled Stadium undertake two major redevelopments. Costa has also overseen one of the most stable clubs in the AFL.
Under his presidency the Cats have had just two coaches, Gary Ayres (1999) and Mark Thompson (2000- ); one CEO in Brian Cook; and two football managers, Garry Davidson (1999-2006) and Neil Balme (2007- ). That stability has been a major plank in the club’s recovery and prosperity and on-field success.
Long time vice-president Gareth Andrews will also continue in the role.
