Adelaide Oval

  1. Can I recycle as a visitor to Adelaide Oval?
  2. Yes, In all public areas Adelaide Oval has a two-bin system. Look for the red (general waste) and yellow (recycling) bins throughout the venue. Each bin has imagery indicating the types of waste appropriate.
  3. What happens with food waste at Adelaide Oval after the game? a. All the food and organic waste collected from the Adelaide Oval goes to a Jeffries Composting plant. This process generates new ground soil which is then sold to various buyers.
  4. Can I refill my own water bottle? a. AOSMA have worked with SA Water to install six new smart fountains around the stadium allowing visitors access to free drinking water and making it easy for fans to bring their own bottle. The smart fountains produce environmental, health and cost saving reports, with information such as how many plastic bottles were saved from landfill by choosing to either take a drink directly or fill up a reusable bottle with water from the fountain.
  5. How are energy and lighting use managed? a. The stadium itself is controlled by a building management system (BMS) that ensures maximum efficiency by controlling lighting, air-conditioning, blinds, refrigeration units, and escalators and so on. The system also alerts staff to any faults, allowing timely repairs and minimising potential energy waste. The Game Day, Function and Roof Climb teams communicates weekly with the BMS Operator ensuring lights and air-conditioning are only programmed during relevant operation times conserving and minimizing the energy required to run the many varied operations of the venue.
  6. How is water usage managed in stadium toilet facilities? a. All of our toilets are running on recycled water that is normally a waste product of the sewer plant that goes out to sea. By using this water source for the toilets and some irrigation around the venue we are saving about 31,000 kL annually of mains water normally used for these applications.
