There is good and bad news on the injury front for the Swans after Luke Ablett and Tadhg Kennelly had scans on Monday.

Luke Ablett, who hyper-extended his knee in the win over Melbourne on Saturday night, suffered soft tissue damage and minor bone bruising but he remains a chance to play against the Kangaroos this weekend.

“There's no looseness in any of his ligaments and the scans showed no major bruising or any other joint surface damage so I would say he is 50/50,” the Club doctor, Nathan Gibbs told sydneyswans.com.au.

The news isn’t so good for dashing defender Tadhg Kennelly who hopped off the ground in the third quarter with a dislocated knee cap.

Scans revealed a grade two medial ligament tear which could normally sideline players for six to eight weeks.

“It is a medium tear so while that normally means about 6-8 weeks but we are hopeful he will be back in four weeks as he has an enormous capacity to play injured and to recover quickly,” Dr Gibbs said.

“He is up and walking today and hopefully he will be jogging in two weeks.”
