Ashley McGrath and Jamie Charman have been selected in the Lions senior side for Saturday night’s clash against AFL ladder leaders Hawthorn at the Gabba.

Wayde Mills and Lachlan Henderson have been omitted to make way for the returning premiership players who have overcome their respective ankle and calf injuries to be named in the 22-man team.

McGrath will play his first match of the season this weekend after minor knee surgery hampered his pre-season preparations. The 25 year-old then rolled his ankle playing for the Suncoast Lions reserves side two weeks ago. His pace, creativity and knack for crumbing goals will be a welcome addition to the Lions team searching for their third win of the 2008 season.

Charman returns after missing last week’s astonishing comeback against Port Adelaide with a calf complaint. The aggressive big man is set to resume his position in the ruck.

Luke Power has been named to play his 200th AFL match – a milestone only 23 other players have been able to achieve in our Club’s history.

Troy Selwood, who is in his sixth season with the Lions, will also notch up an important milestone when he runs out for his 50th AFL match.
