The Adelaide Football Club is pleased to announce the newly formed board met this morning and appointed Rob Chapman as Chairman of the Club.

Nigel Smart was appointed Deputy Chairman. On Thursday the SANFL announced the appointment of Andrew McEvoy as a Director of the Board.

Rob Chapman replaces Bill Sanders as Chairman. He is the Managing Director of Bank SA and has been on our Board for two years, the last 12 months as Deputy Chairman.

This morning Rob Chapman said: ” I consider it to be a great privilege to be appointed Chairman of the Adelaide Football Club. I thank my fellow directors for their support. The next 12 months, we all know, will be an interesting mix of challenge and excitement. We have a youthful list and a team that is rightly being talked about as capable of setting us up for years to come, and like all other clubs we have some major off-field challenges in this currently tough economic climate.”

Deputy Chairman Nigel Smart has been on the Board since 2005, played 278 games for the Club as well as eight State of Origin matches. He is a dual Premiership player, pre-season cup Premiership player and former vice captain of our Club. He was awarded Life Membership of our Club in 2000 and the AFL in 2003.

The 2009 Board is: Rob Chapman (Chairman), Nigel Smart (Deputy Chairman), Alan Sheppard, Andrew Payze, Peter Hurley, John Sutton, Andrew McEvoy and Steven Trigg (CEO).
