THE Western Bulldogs have re-signed ball-magnets Matthew Boyd and Daniel Cross

First-year captain Boyd placed equal third in Monday night's Brownlow medal count with 24 votes.

General Manager of Football James Fantasia told the club's website the club was thrilled to re-sign the stalwarts.

"It's a great result for all parties and a just reward for both players who have been outstanding for the club in recent years," Fantasia said.

Boyd had another brilliant season, leading the AFL in disposals, contested possessions and clearances to receive a second All Australian selection.

Boyd was recruited from Frankston in the VFL and worked his way off the rookie list in 2002 to become one of the club's most important players.

Cross continued his consistent form in 2011 and has now averaged 24 possessions or more per game in his past seven seasons. He ranked No. 1 at the club for tackles, handballs and marks this year.

Recruited in 2000 with pick No. 56, the 2008 Charles Sutton medallist was rewarded for his courage this year, earning a nomination for Most Courageous Player at the annual AFLPA's awards.

A club media release says both players are expected to figure prominently in the club's best and fairest award to be held on October 7.

The club also expects that further re-signings will be announced shortly.
