IT MAY have only been the second goal of his season but Hawthorn defender Rick Ladson ensured it made the highlights reel against North Melbourne on Sunday.

North defender Scott McMahon kicked long from the Roos' defensive 50 but the kick was cut off and kicked straight back over his head.

Hawk Luke Breust, unable to take the mark, slid in and fired off a quick handpass to Ladson in the left forward pocket.

From the boundary, Ladson kicked around his body and watched the ball bounce through to put the Hawks in front for the first time 16 minutes into the second quarter.
