IN FOOTBALL we often talk about the big stage and none is bigger than the MCG on Grand Final day.
This is the place where legends are born and history is made. If it happens here, it becomes the thing of folklore... of greatness.
Think Brendon Goddard's screamer in last year's drawn Grand Final... or Leo Barry's match-saving grab in the enthralling 2005 encounter between the Swans and the Eagles... or Wayne Harme's famous slide and knock-back in the 1979 thriller between Carlton and Collingwood... or Carlton's amazing comeback in 1970.
This is but a drop in the ocean of rich AFL/VFL Grand Final history and virtually every year there is another memorable chapter to add, penned in the blood, sweat, tears and unique talents of our players.
AFL great Leigh Matthews has decided to refresh our memories and recall some of those special Grand Final moments as we count down the end of the 2011 season.
Stay tuned... Matthews' first revelation is Monday.
