PORT Adelaide’s future prospects have received a massive boost with the club re-signing three players it believes pivotal to helping it achieve success in the coming years.

The Power have reached new deals with Robbie Gray, Hamish Hartlett and Paul Stewart.

While the length and terms of the new deals are not known, the fact the trio has re-signed will be a massive relief for those at Alberton.

The trio would likely have been targeted by new clubs Gold Coast and Greater Western Sydney.

Gray’s future, in particular, has been the centre of media speculation in recent weeks, with the former Oakleigh Charger believed to have been the focus not only of expansion clubs but also clubs in his home state of Victoria.

However the 22-year-old, who has played 40 games since being selected with pick 55 in the 2006 NAB AFL Draft, said the decision on his future was easy.

“I’m very settled here in Adelaide and have really enjoyed my first few seasons here at the Power,” Gray said.

“We have an exciting young list that is eager to play finals football and I certainly want to be a part of that.

“The club picked me late in the draft and put a lot of time in developing me as a player and I am very thankful of that.”

Hartlett, the Power’s highest-ever draft pick at No.4 in 2008, and Stewart, are both South Australians.

Power football operations manager Peter Rohde said his club was thrilled to have re-signed the group.

“Without doubt, Gray, Hartlett and Stewart are all very important young players and will form a key part of our team in the future,” Rohde said.

“The fact that all three have signed in the current environment with two new franchises set to enter the AFL is very positive for our club and sends a clear message that they see a healthy future here at Port Adelaide.

“Hamish and Paul are local talents who have progressed well through our system and Robbie was a late draft pick who has quickly established himself as a highly rated player.”
