Lloyd was taken out of the Bombers line-up last week with calf soreness, but successfully managed to complete training on Tuesday and Thursday this week.
With the Bombers overwhelmed by soft tissue injuries in the early part of the season, Essendon assistant coach Gary O'Donnell admitted it was pleasing to see the club finally have some good luck.
"It's some good news, he'll straighten us up a bit and obviously he's kicked a lot of goals in his career and we wouldn't mind half a dozen from him in this game," O'Donnell told a press conference at Windy Hill on Thursday afternoon.
"We did a normal training session and he did enough to suggest he was fine without doing a [fitness] test.
"He is [ready], he’s got through two sessions this week and it looks like he’s going to be right for tomorrow’s game."
O’Donnell conceded that while Lloyd was close to being selected last week, the club decided it was better to be safe than sorry with star forward Scott Lucas already on the sidelines.
"It was probably precaution last week that kept him out and he’s come through with flying colours today," O’Donnell said.
"It’s a different injury for him so obviously it’s totally different to how other players have been getting injured."
O'Donnell also confirmed utility player Andrew Welsh is likely to play after completing a week of training on top of three quarters in the VFL.
"Andrew should be back, he was one of our hamstring boys, he played three quarters in the VFL last week and got through [training] so he should be selected as well," O’Donnell said.
Quizzed if he felt the Bombers had enough runners at their disposal to cover its sidelined midfielders, O’Donnell was confident they did – for now.
"We think we have, [but] we wouldn’t [want to] lose any more," he said.
"We’ve got a full complement we think are going to be able to instigate and continue with the plans in how we want to carry the ball."
The Bombers' upcoming opponent has been roundly criticised for its slow play in recent weeks, with some talk they may look to speed up their team by axing veteran forward Fraser Gehrig.
However, O’Donnell said he and the other coaches were only focused on what they could control.
"We can’t really worry about what St Kilda are going to do," he said.
"It’s a situation where we’ve just got to concentrate on our game and that’s where this team is, in its early days of development.
"We will obviously be presented with what they’re going to do when the game starts and as the game evolves, but you just have to plan for how they’ve been going in their first four games and if they change that, you have to adapt."
