Sydney Swans midfielder Jude Bolton has agreed to a new two-year contract with the Club.

The Swans are pleased to secure Bolton to the end of the 2009 season after the 27-year-old’s name was raised during the trade period.

“Jude was aware, as the rest of the team was, we had a plan to trade more aggressively this year,” General Manager of Football Andrew Ireland told sydneyswans.com.au.

“No player wants to be the name tossed around but it’s the reality of football; we know Jude is happy with the offer we made him and is excited about the 2008 season.”

Bolton’s new contract comes on the back of ruckman Darren Jolly signing a four-year deal, which he announced at the Swans Best and Fairest earlier this month.

Jolly came to the Club three years ago from Melbourne and has already notched up 72 games in the red and white, combining firstly with Jason Ball and now Peter Everitt.

“We believe there is a shortage of quality ruckman out there so we are delighted to have Darren with us until 2011,” Ireland added.

With trade week concluded and delisting of players finalised, the Football Department now turns its focus to the Draft, which commences November 24. Players are set to resume pre-season training on November 5.
