SYDNEY Swans coach John Longmire has confirmed that Port Adelaide has shown interest in ruckman Mark Seaby

Speaking to afl.com.au's Trade Week Radio, Longmire also confirmed that the club's recruiting manager, Kinnear Beatson, had commenced discussions with Adelaide to secure 22 year-old Tony Armstrong.

Talks regarding Armstong slowed early in the week, with Adelaide busy negotiating a number of other deals. But with the Crows' deal on young forward Jack Gunston now complete, Longmire said the clubs could turn their attention to making Armstrong a Swan.

"We hope so," Longmire said when asked about getting the deal for Armstrong done. "That's what we're trying to work towards.

"It may take a bit of time. We're keen to get it done but need to obviously work through that with Adelaide at the moment."

Although Seaby struggled for opportunities at senior level in 2011 - playing just seven matches - Longmire said: "He still played some reasonable footy for us this year when he was able to get the chance."

With Shane Mumford grabbing the No. 1 ruck spot, Seaby has been a victim of the new substitute rules with the Swans reluctant to play two big men.

"He is probably one who has been a little bit affected by the sub rule, I guess," Longmire said.

"Port have shown some interest but we just have to wait through that as well. It hasn’t progressed too far as yet."

Port's No. 1 ruckman Dean Brogan retired at the end of this year's home and away season.

Trade week concludes at 2pm on Monday October 17.
