Richmond youngsters Matt White, Jarrod Silvester and Daniel Jackson shared a running course with marathon world record holder Haile Gebrselassie during the Great Australian Run on Sunday.
The world’s best long distance runner dominated the field in the 15km race around Melbourne’s streets, in which White, Silvester and Jackson ran 5km legs.
Richmond young gun Cotchin was one of the ambassadors of the event, along with Australian distance star Craig Mottram, who finished fourth in the race.
The Tiger players’ involvement in the event also helped raise money for the Club’s nominated charity, Very Special Kids.
Jackson combined with Essendon’s Jobe Watson and Carlton’s Bryce Gibbs to take out the Sportman’s Mini Challenge, with the trio finishing the course in a combined total of 57min, 54sec.
The Tiger quartet had the chance to meet Gebrselassie after the race.
