WHICH ball-winner has taken the game by the scruff of the neck in 2017?
In a season of standout centremen, we've selected a shortlist of six and we want you to choose the season's best.
The nominees are ...
Dayne Zorko
This criminally underrated Lion has soared to new heights in 2017, despite what has been a tough year for his side. His lightning speed and goal-kicking ability put him in the upper echelon of midfielders in the competition, and he has been a shining light in Queensland this season.
Dustin Martin
Tigers fans would do anything to hang onto this man, and for good reason. Martin is the overwhelming favourite to take home this year's Brownlow Medal after asserting his dominance in the contest throughout the year, and it's hard to think of a more deserving winner this season.
Tom Mitchell
The star recruit of the year has been superb in his first season at Hawthorn, consistently gathering absurd amounts of the football and proving why the Hawks are planning on building a team around him. The in-and-under midfielder is sure to give Dusty a fight on Brownlow night.
Patrick Dangerfield
It is always hard to back up a Brownlow Medal-winning year with the extra expectation that brings, but Dangerfield has done that with flying colours. The explosive midfielder has had another incredible season, which may have yielded another medal had he not succumbed to suspension.
Rory Sloane
While the courageous Crow has been tagged out of a few games this year, his ability to fight back and return to his blistering early-season form is a credit to his perseverance. He continues to stand up in the absence of former teammate Patrick Dangerfield with class and toughness.
Zach Merrett
After shouldering the load for an undermanned team brilliantly last year, Merrett has backed up with a sensational 2017 season with many key teammates back from year-long suspensions. Merrett is a ball-magnet who makes his possessions count and doesn't let his small stature stop him from laying a bruising tackle.
