PUBLIC access tickets to Friday night's blockbuster meeting between Hawthorn and Geelong at the MCG have all been sold.

There are a small number of seats remaining for sale in the AFL members' area.

AFL members were contacted yesterday to remind them that they should pre-book a ticket if they wished to be certain of entry.

While the Anzac Day clash between Collingwood and Essendon has traditionally been the highest drawing match of the year in recent seasons, the ticket rush for this game may see the crowd surpass the 88,999 figure recorded for this year's April 25 fixture.

Hawthorn's greatest ever home away attendance remains the 92,935 who crammed into Waverley to see the Hawks take on Collingwood in 1981.

The biggest crowd Geelong has ever played in front of came when the Cats took on Essendon in front of 87,653 patrons in 1989.

Fine weather has been forecast for the match, raising hopes of a crowd in excess of 90,000.
